In a Facebook post on Apr. 16, the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) warned members of the public that fake recruitment messages have been making rounds.

These messages ask interested parties to submit their personal particulars to MINDEF and PrimeStaff email addresses.

Generous pay package offered

The fake messages state that MINDEF is looking for former WOSPEC (Warrant Officers and Specialists) to work in Singapore Expo, which is currently used as an isolation facility for Covid-19 patients that have milder symptoms.

According to the messages, this is considered a high-risk role, and that candidates can expect a generous pay package of S$5,000 to S$5,500.

According to MINDEF, while it is true that former SAF Regulars are being hired to support the Inter-agency Taskforce on foreign worker dormitory management, genuine job openings for former Regulars will not ask for personal details, such as gender, race, age and citizenship.

MINDEF has urged the public not to circulate the messages, and to verify the authenticity of job advertisements and messages before disclosing any personal details.
