Enterprise Singapore (ESG) and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has imposed composition fines on three establishments following enforcement checks over the long weekend of April 10 to 12.
The three establishments are:
- Putien (127 Kitchener Road)
- Komala's Vege Mart Pte Ltd (125 Dunlop Street)
- Jollibee (Woodlands MRT station)
Establishments fined S$1,000
These establishments were issued composition fines of S$1,000 each for failing to enforce proper safe distancing measures despite earlier warnings.
The infringements included failure to implement a crowd management system and allowing customers and delivery personnel to crowd together without 1-metre spacing between one another.
The establishments will face higher fines and can be charged in court if they continue to flout the rules.
A total of 30 businesses were also instructed to cease operations.
This comprised of businesses that provide non-essential services such as retail of mobile phone accessories, health food and hair treatment.
Delivery personnel fined S$300
Two delivery personnel also received composition fines of S$300 each for non-compliance of safe distancing measures.
ESG said that it will be stepping up enforcement efforts to ensure that delivery personnel will comply with the safe distancing measures.
No more warnings
In a joint statement on April 13, it is mentioned that ESG and STB will cease to issue warnings to businesses with immediate effect.
Action can also be taken against delivery personnel who fail to observe safe distancing measures while waiting for the orders.
They also advised for delivery businesses to take concrete steps to ensure their delivery personnel cooperate and adhere to the measures.
Under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act, first-time offenders will face a fine of up to S$10,000, imprisonment of up to six months, or both.
Subsequent offences can face a fine of up to S$20,000, imprisonment of up to 12 months or both.
