Local restaurant The Coconut Club has pledged to donate 1,000 packs of nasi lemak to needy families and individuals every week.
"Businesses are finding it hard to keep the lights on and people are genuinely concerned about how and when to put food on their table," said the restaurant in a Facebook post:
"We realize that uncertain times like this call for something we can count on. That is why we will provide 1000 nasi lemaks every week until conditions in Singapore improve."
Since April 13, The Coconut Club has been partnering Beyond Social Services to deliver nasi lemak to vulnerable families and individuals in eight to 14 neighbourhoods.
This initiative, said the restaurant, would not have been possible without its owners, the Singapore government, and the goodwill of its landlords.
The Coconut Club is famous for its nasi lemak, which can cost up to S$14.80.
It made it to the Michelin Bib Gourmand list in 2018.
