Covid-19: S'pore Airlines steward among 13 new confirmed cases on Mar. 6, 2020

He had travelled to South Africa and France prior to arriving in Singapore.

On Friday (Mar. 6), the ministry of Health (MOH) announced 13 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Singapore.

The total number of cases in Singapore stands at 130. 82 have fully recovered from the infection. Nine are in critical condition in the ICU.

Of the new cases, nine are linked to the Jurong SAFRA cluster, two are imported, one is linked to a previous case and another one is unlinked.

Cases 119, 123, 124, and 126 are not related to the Jurong cluster.

Travelled to South Africa and France

Among the unlinked cases is Case 123, a 47-year-old male Singapore citizen.

He is a cabin crew member of Singapore Airlines (SIA) who had been to South Africa from Feb. 14 to Feb. 17.

He had also travelled to France from Feb. 22 to Feb. 24.

As of Mar. 5, France has 282 confirmed cases, while South Africa has no reported cases.

Had onset symptoms on Feb. 27

The steward reported onset symptoms on Feb. 27.

He sought treatment at a general practitioner (GP) clinic on the same day, as well as on Mar. 2 and Mar. 4.

On Mar. 4, he presented himself at Sengkang General Hospital (SKH) and was subsequently confirmed to be infected with Covid-19 on the afternoon of Mar. 5.

MOH explained that he is likely to be an imported case.

Prior to his hospital admission, he had mostly stayed at home at Fernvale Close and has not gone to work since the onset of symptoms.
