On Sunday, Mar. 15, the Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 14 new cases of Covid-19.
On Mar. 16, more details were released about some of the cases, including Case 219, a 30-year-old Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officer who works at Sengkang Fire Station.
Went to work before admitted to hospital
According to MOH, the officer is a Singaporean citizen with no recent travel history to any affected countries and regions.
The officer last reported for work on Friday (Mar. 13), according to a statement by SCDF.
He reported onset of symptoms on Mar. 13, and was present at the emergency department of Sengkang General Hospital (SKH) on the same day.
Subsequent test results diagnosed him with Covid-19.
Before he was admitted to SKH, he had gone to work at Sengkang Fire Station, and visited Meiban Mold Manufacture Pte Ltd located at Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park 2 and Furama Riverfront.
He stays at Bishan Street 22.
Linked to Case 142, Case 211, and Case 236
According to MOH, the officer is linked to Case 142, who is linked to the cluster involving the private dinner function at SAFRA Jurong.
He is also linked to Case 211, a Filipino national who is also linked to Case 142.
The officer is also a family member of Case 236, a 30-year-old female Singaporean who was confirmed with Covid-19 on Mar. 16.
SCDF says officer has not been involved in emergency medical calls
According to SCDF, the officer is a Fire and Rescue Specialist, and has not been involved in any response to emergency medical calls involving suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases.
They are also in touch with the officer and his family to render support and assistance.
As a precautionary measure, those identified to have been in close contact with the officer have been instructed to stay home, monitor their health, and practise strict social distancing.
