Details of Case 111, a 43-year-old male Singapore Permanent Resident, was announced by the Ministry of Health on March 4, 2020.
His case has highlighted the difficulty in positively confirming Covid-19 infections in some people.
According to his travel history, the man had been in Malaysia from Feb. 18 to 21, but had not been to affected countries and regions recently.
In total, it took nine days for him to be positively diagnosed and warded, from the time the Covid-19 symptoms started showing.
During this nine-day period, he had to seek four different medical opinions before he could get diagnosed.
The man reported onset of symptoms on Feb. 24, and had sought treatment at a general practitioner (GP) clinic on the same day.
He presented himself at Sengkang General Hospital on Feb. 27.
He then went back to see the GP again on Feb. 28.
Eventually, he went to the National University Hospital on March 3.
Subsequent test results confirmed Covid-19 infection on March 3 afternoon.
He is currently warded in an isolation room at the NUH.
Prior to hospital admission, he had mostly stayed at his home at Compassvale Street.
Similar difficulties in previous cases
Repeated visits to the doctor is, however, not uncommon.
Case 107, a 68-year-old female Singapore citizen, had been in Jakarta, Indonesia from Feb. 11 to 14.
She is currently warded in an isolation room at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID). She is linked to Case 94.
She reported onset of symptoms on Feb. 16 and had sought treatment at two general practitioner (GP) clinics on Feb. 20, 23 and 25.
She presented herself at Tan Tock Seng Hospital on Feb. 27 and was immediately isolated.
Subsequent test results confirmed Covid-19 infection on March 1 afternoon.

Case 109 is a 70 year-old male Singapore citizen who has no recent travel history to affected countries and regions.
He is currently warded in an isolation room at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH).
He reported onset of symptoms on Feb. 25, and had sought treatment at a general practitioner (GP) clinic on Feb. 27 and 28.
He presented himself at SGH on Feb. 29 and was immediately isolated.
