The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), a non-profit think-tank based in the United States cancelled a roundtable titled "Doing Business Under Coronavirus" due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
Coronavirus conference cancelled after viral outbreak
The conference, which was initially scheduled for Friday (Mar. 13) in New York, was cancelled as health officials reported at least 108 cases of infection in New York City.
Other scheduled in-person conferences by the CFR have also been cancelled along with a long list of events and gatherings in the city, Bloomberg reported.
Coachella, a popular music festival in the U.S., has also been postponed from April to October.
Confirmed cases in U.S. top 1,000
The number of confirmed cases in the U.S. has risen to over 1,000, with 31 deaths in the country, according to Washington Post.
The virus has been detected in nearly 40 states in the country, and at least 19 states have declared a state of emergency.
In the state of New York, with the highest numbers at 173, a one-mile containment area has been built in attempt to stop a growing cluster of Covid-19 infections.
