Mainland China reported 16 new confirmed coronavirus infections on Sunday, March 15, the National Health Commission said on Monday.
This marks an overall decline and a further drop from 20 a day earlier.
The total number of confirmed cases in China so far is 80,860.
China has registered 3,213 deaths as of the end of Sunday, up by 14 from the previous day.
The 14 deaths took place in Hubei province, with the capital Wuhan accounting for 13 of the fatalities.
Out of the total number of fatalities so far, 3,099 deaths occurred in Hubei province.
12 out of 16 new cases imported infections
Of the latest 16 cases figures, 12 were imported infections, exceeding locally transmitted cases for the third day.
This brings the total number of imported cases to 123 so far.
Beijing accounted for four of the cases, Guangdong province four, Shanghai two, Yunnan province one and Gansu province one.
The only locally transmitted new infections on Sunday were in Wuhan, with four cases.
It was the 11th consecutive day that the central Hubei province recorded zero new infections outside of the Wuhan capital.
Beijing and Shanghai preparing for imported infections
China's capital Beijing is requiring anyone arriving from abroad to be transferred to city quarantine facilities for 14 days, starting Monday, as checks on international travellers have been tightened.
All international flights that were scheduled to land at Beijing's new Daxing International Airport in the south have been directed to the older Beijing Capital International Airport in the northeast.
International travellers to Shanghai are not required to be quarantined, but Shanghai has designated hotels to serve as quarantine venues.
