When Malaysia announced its lockdown measure on the night of Mar. 16, a number of Singaporeans were prompted to give local supermarkets a little visit.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing have since reassured Singaporeans that there is enough food for everyone.

In addition, Channel 8 has put up a short video on the subject of hoarding featuring their dialect-speaking artistes.

This includes a skit by veterans Chen Liping and Zhu Houren, as well as messages from Chen Hanwei and getai singer Lin Ruping.

You can watch it here:The skit starts off with Zhu and Chen, who are playing father and daughter, in the supermarket.

They chance upon a woman buying instant noodles in bulk.

Chen instantly turns to Zhu and says loudly, "Pa! Look at her, buying a whole trolley of supplies. So much!"

Zhu, who is on a PMA (Personal Mobility Aid), replied that the hoarding was a "monkey see, monkey do" mentality.

He then relays the message that there is no need to hoard, as Singapore has enough supplies.

Chen agrees, and says that one should only buy what they need, and leave the rest for the others. No matter how much the national stockpile has, it will never be enough for the hoarders, she adds.

Overhearing the conversation, the shopper puts a few packets of instant noodles back.

In respective dialect messages, the artistes also advised against travelling durning this period, and to look out for news from government sources.
