The Starbucks outlet at the Fullerton Waterboat House was closed on Feb. 2, 2020, after its lease ended.

The iconic store, which boasts a convenient location in the heart of the city and views of the central business district, was a common hotspot for both tourists and students seeking a cosy environment.

According to The Business Times, the outlet was closed as their lease reached its natural expiry. Starbucks also clarified that the closure was not related to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

100th Starbucks outlet in Singapore

In 2014, Starbucks opened its 100th store in Singapore at the Fullerton Waterboat House.

It shared the location with the 1919 Waterboat House restaurant and The Rooftop Bar.

It was the first store in Singapore to collaborate with the Autism Resource Centre's (ARC) Employability and Employment Centre.

As part of the collaboration with ARC, the store hired and trained people with autism, in order to equip them with necessary skills for purposeful employment.

The Business Times reported that following the closure, employees with autism have been transferred to other stores islandwide.

The rest of the store's employees have also been transferred to other stores.

Popular hotspot for students

Although students these days tend to flock to Starbucks outlets to study in general, this particular outlet was perhaps even more popular among students due to the abundance of seats available and great views of the city.

Here's the surrounding view:

Time to find a new study spot.
