As of Feb. 3, hundreds have died from the Wuhan coronavirus.
Despite the rising death toll, a man in China who made a successful recovery from the infection has shared his experience online in a bid to spread positivity and hope.
Described the different phases of the infection
37-year-old Li Zhendong was the first person to be diagnosed with the novel coronavirus in Jingzhou city in the Hubei province.
He opened up about his ordeal on social media, and his story was featured in a Sixth Tone video.
Li shared that he had to undergo treatment for 16 days, and opened up about the different stages of the infection.
Stage one
In the first stage, he said that doctors made him undergo blood and ultrasound tests, as well as do a chest radiography.
While being warded, he said that it is important to keep one's nutrition up in order to fight the virus.
"You must force yourself to eat, because you may lose your resistance and immunity if you stop eating," he said.
Stage two
The second stage lasted three to four days for him.
During this stage, he said he had a fever of between 38 and 40°C.
Stage three
The third stage is the recovery stage, he said.
During this period he took the medications as prescribed, and said it is important to follow the doctor's advice.
Stage four
In the final stage of the recovery process, he said he stayed in the hospital for a couple of days.
He also had to take a nucleic acid test. A negative result on the test means that you can go home.
"You must be hopeful and hold onto the end," Li added.
