A Princess Margaret Hospital spokeswoman has confirmed Hong Kong's second death caused by Covid-19.
According to Reuters, the 70-year-old man was suffering from underlying illnesses prior to his death.
He was one of 62 confirmed cases of the virus in the city.
6th death outside of mainland China
This latest development marks the sixth reported death outside of mainland China, with other deaths reported in the Philippines, France, Taiwan, and Japan.
On Feb. 4, Hong Kong confirmed its first death of a patient from Covid-19.
South China Morning Post reported that the patient, a 39-year-old man, was being treated in Princess Margaret Hospital in Kwai Chung.
The patient died on Feb. 4, 2020, due to sudden heart failure, according to several medical sources.
According to information disclosed by the Centre for Health Protection, the man had underlying health issues.
