Young woman in M'sia attacked & molested by man while walking home from work

Police are hunting down the suspect.

On Jun. 9, a woman in her early 20s was walking home from work in Setia Alam, Selangor, when an unidentified man molested her.

A surveillance clip of the incident has gone viral, and police are currently tracking down the suspect.

The man was seen hugging and grabbing onto the woman from behind, before running away.

What happened

In a statement to the press, Shah Alam district police chief Sarudin Samah said the incident occurred around 7:10pm.

The woman was walking alone through a secluded lane in the housing area on her way home when an unidentified man wearing a red shirt and black trousers attacked her from behind, The New Straits Times reported.

"The suspect hugged her, covered her mouth, and proceeded to kiss and molest her," Sarudin said.

The victim did not suffer any financial loss, he noted.

The man then fled the scene after the incident.

The victim lodged a report on the incident at 9:06pm, and the case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outrage of modesty, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years or whipping upon conviction.
