An 18-year-old man was charged in court on May 11 after he allegedly assaulted Amos Yee at Suntec City Convention Centre on May 9.

Bosco Chun Ho Wang, a Singapore permanent resident (PR), was handed one count each of causing public nuisance and voluntarily causing hurt.

The assault occurred outside the anime convention Doujin Market 2026.

Yee, 27, a convicted child sex offender, had said he planned to attend the event, but was banned due to safety concerns raised by attendees.

Yee showed up anyway, and was filmed getting hit and kicked by Chun, resulting in minor injuries.

Granted bail

Chun appeared in court via video link, wearing an "I Love Rogue Demon" shirt, a reference to a game on Roblox that is related to the "Demon Slayer" anime.

His lawyer told the court he was instructed by Chun's mother to seek a two-week adjournment for the next hearing.

The jail granted an application for bail with S$5,000 in one surety, or S$2,500 in two sureties, to be provided by Chun's mother, who appeared in court in person.

The accused's mother, also a Singapore PR, told the court that Chun lives with her.

Conditions for bail include a curfew from 10pm to 6am, the surrender of Chun's travel documents, and that Chun must not reoffend.

The prosecution did not object to these terms, adding that it was understood that Chun is a student, and his only parent is a PR.

The next mention of Chun's case was scheduled for Jun. 2.

If convicted of public nuisance, he could be jailed for up to three months, fined up to S$2,000, or both.

If convicted of voluntarily causing hurt, he could be jailed for up to three years, fined up to S$5,000, or both.
