The Indonesian authorities have informed officers from the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta that they have recovered two bodies from Mount Dukono, according to a May 10 statement from the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

The bodies are believed to be those of the missing Singaporeans, the statement added.

The embassy is working closely with the Indonesian authorities in Tobelo, North Maluku, on the formal identification of the two bodies.

MFA is in close contact with the families to facilitate the identification and will continue to provide assistance.

"MFA would like to express its deep appreciation to the Indonesian authorities, particularly the search and rescue teams comprising more than 150 personnel, for their efforts under very difficult and hazardous conditions."

Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Centre Abdul Muhari said in a written statement that the bodies have been brought to the emergency response post near Mount Dukono.

Following that, the bodies have been sent to Tobelo Public General Hospital for identification and further arrangements, reported Kompas.

This concludes the search-and-rescue efforts spanning three days.
