Woman, 84, allegedly hit & trapped under car in Jalan Besar, SCDF rescues using hydraulic equipment

An 84-year-old woman was allegedly knocked down by a car and was subsequently trapped under it.

According to a tip-off by a Shin Min Daily News reader, the accident happened near Block 27 Jalan Berseh Road at around 10am on May 9.

Photos show the woman being trapped under the car, with around 10 Singapore Civil Defence Force personnel working to unpin her.

A resident said that the rescue took about 15 minutes, and heard the woman crying out in pain.

Reporters who went to the scene found that the incident happened near a sheltered residential drop-off point.

Speaking to Shin Min, another resident who witnessed the incident said that the elderly woman was trying to cross the road when the accident happened.

In a statement, SCDF said that the woman was eventually freed using hydraulic rescue equipment.

She was conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Police said that investigations are ongoing.
