At least six Singaporean tourists were reportedly injured after the minibus they were travelling in suffered a brake failure and collided with several vehicles in East Java, Indonesia, on May 9.
Video footage showed the minibus speeding before crashing into four other vehicles, according to Indonesian media outlet Detik.
The six travellers were reportedly on a mountainous tourist route in Ngadas Village, Probolinggo, after leaving Mount Bromo.
Footage online showed the minibus veering into a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction before crashing into an electric pole.
Eight injured
Eight people on board the minibus, including the six Singaporeans, were injured.
Their injuries reportedly ranged from facial lacerations to bruises, according to Detik.
Detik also reported that the minibus driver that day was a substitute rather than the designated driver.
Local police said preliminary investigations suggest the accident was caused by brake failure. The brakes were believed to have overheated and malfunctioned while the vehicle was descending a steep slope.
Investigations are ongoing.
The accident comes after a volcanic eruption in Indonesia claimed the lives of two Singaporeans.
