The younger brother of the designated heir of the Singha beer empire recently publicly accused his elder brother of sexually assaulting him for over a decade.
Siranudh “Psi” Scott went on Thai television program HoneKrasae on May 18 to explain why he was speaking out now.
Siranudh, a fourth-generation member of the Bhirombhakdi family and a conservation activist, first shared his story in a Facebook video on May 9.
The 29-year-old alleged that his elder brother, Sunit "Pi" Scott, abused him from the ages of 12 to 24 in family residences, later releasing audio recordings related to the allegations.
Grandfather's passing
On why he was only speaking up now, Siranudh said he had grown up under his late grandfather's care and had been taught to love his family, Sin Chew Daily reported.
His grandfather, Chamnong Bhirombhakdi, was the former chairman of the Singha Group.
However, after his grandfather's passing, he gradually realised that his family had lost the values his grandfather held for cherishing family, which left him heartbroken.
While he emphasised that he did not want to hurt his family, he maintained that he had lost hope in the family.
He believed that if his grandfather knew the whole truth, "he would probably choose to let me leave the family."
Broke down in tears
Siranudh broke down in tears on the show as he recounted his story.
He alleged that his mother knew about the sexual assault but had asked him to keep quiet.
Moreover, he claimed that his nanny had also sexually assaulted him, which he told his mother about.
However, the nanny apparently threatened his mother with his brother's "secret".
When his mother asked Siranudh about it, he allegedly admitted as much, but she told him not to tell anyone else.
Afterwards, Siranudh claimed he was eventually kicked out of their home in Hua Hin, and he moved to southern Thailand in 2020.
He also claimed that the nanny was eventually rehired by his mother.
The allegations also come amid a bitter inheritance dispute after Siranudh's mother sued him over inheritance assets left to him by his late grandfather, reported The Bangkok Post.
Sunit, meanwhile, had issued a categorical denial, posting a video with his own point of view.
