A 42-year-old father in Singapore shared his experience handling his 13-year-old son's alleged school bully in a May 2026 TikTok video.

The man, Shaun Yeo, also known as "shaunyeoy" on TikTok, said in the video that his son was allegedly slapped by another student outside of school.

He added the student had also allegedly shouted gang slogans.

Video about experience

"So I rushed down to where my son was," said Yeo.

He added: "I must say that I am overwhelmed with emotions when I'm on the way there because this is not the first time the boy hit my son."

Yeo noted, however, that he did not want to give his son the impression that "we should resort to violence to solve issues".

He said: "Who am I to hit him? He's also someone else's son, right?"

Yeo decided to take a different approach and brought the student to the vice principal's office.

Show support

He said in the video: "I just wanted to let him know that this father very 'on' one, so don't come near my son."

"That's what I meant about being present."

The video was posted with the caption "Lead by example. Show support during the 'downs'. Celebrate the small wins. Always be there. Always be available."

It has since garnered over 13,000 likes and over 1,500 shares.

Netizens react

Following Yeo's TikTok video, netizens have praised him for the way he handled the situation, keeping his cool and letting the school handle the situation.

In response, Yeo said he was sure "most fathers would do the same".

One netizen asked Yeo why the student agreed to follow him to the vice-principal's office and to that, Yeo said it was because he would either bring him to the vice-principal's office "today, tomorrow, or next week".

"He can't run," Yeo said, adding that the student is in the same school as his son.

More details

Speaking to Mothership on May 18, Yeo said the student had been suspended and asked to perform corrective work after the video went viral.

Prior to this, the student had allegedly slapped his son about a month ago in April 2026, said Yeo, who brought the student to the vice principal's office on the same day.

Adding that he was furious as this was not the first time his son had been bullied, Yeo rushed down, but was clear he was in no position to hit the student.

The student had previously hit his son once in Primary 3, once in Primary 6, and once in Secondary 1, he alleged.

Noting that his son was not the only victim, Yeo said his son wanted to bring another victim to the school's general office to report the matter but the student allegedly retaliated.

The student no longer bothers his son, Yeo said, but said he cannot speak for other students.

'Nothing to be afraid of': Yeo

Having assured his son that there is "nothing to be afraid of", Yeo said: "I've always told my son, stand up for the weak, do what's right even when no one is watching."

"And as a father, I will definitely be there for him, rain or shine," he added.

This is because he understands how it felt "to have no one" in his younger days.

He said: "My son is feeling ok, because I always reassure my kids that daddy will always be here.

"Kids deserve a safe environment to grow up in. And as parents, we have to provide this."
