Local content creator Simonboy, whose real name is Khung Wei Nan, is giving entrepreneurship another shot after several of his previous businesses shut down in recent years.
In a video shared on Instagram, Simonboy opened up about losing a “big sum of money” from ventures he started over the past two years, including a chicken rice business, a funeral services company, an event space company and even a nail salon.
Still, he has decided to start over once again, revealing that he recently invested a six-figure sum into a new motorcycle rental business called SE Motoring.
Starting over again
According to Simonboy, the business will rent out motorcycles to customers who may temporarily need a bike, while theirs is being repaired, or for those who have yet to save up for their “dream bike”.
He said the unit for the business is still under renovation.
Simonboy added that the business aims to offer customers “competitive pricing”, claiming clients will be able to get “the best bike” at “the best price”.
He also shared that he intends to take a more hands-on approach with this venture, as compared to some of his previous businesses.
Mocked for failed ventures
Simonboy also acknowledged that some people have mocked him over his failed ventures.
However, he added that not all of his businesses were unsuccessful, pointing to a helper agency he runs together with his wife.
Reflecting on his journey in business, Simonboy questioned whether entrepreneurship should be viewed purely from a “gain or loss” perspective, saying he would “leave the answer” to viewers.
He also encouraged those hoping to start their own businesses to “plan properly” and “calculate wisely” before taking the leap.
Simonboy ended the video by saying he would share more updates about the business after renovations are completed, adding that he “won’t give up”.
The comments section was mostly positive, with commenters encouraging Simonboy on his latest venture.
