An elderly woman was injured in an alleged hit-and-run accident after a car knocked her down on Queen Street on the afternoon of May 10.

In a Facebook post, an eyewitness said that the male driver claimed he left contact details for the elderly woman.

But when approached, the elderly woman alleged that the driver left no such details.

In response to queries from Mothership, the police said they were alerted to an accident involving a car and a pedestrian along Waterloo Street towards Bencoolen Street at about 2:35pm.

Responding to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the road traffic accident along Queen Street at about 2:40pm.

The police and SCDF said the 81-year-old female pedestrian sustained minor injuries and was assessed by the SCDF, but refused conveyance to the hospital.

The police said a 49-year-old male driver is assisting with investigations.

The Facebook user also alleged that the driver did not alight from the car right away to assist the elderly woman who had fallen.

She said that when the people approached the driver, they were purportedly told that he had left behind contact details. She, however, said the elderly lady claimed he didn't.

Police investigations are ongoing.
