Ex-S’pore air force chief, 74, charged for driving into woman & boy, 2, in stroller in Telok Blangah

A 74-year-old former chief of the air force faced traffic charges for allegedly driving negligently and colliding with a woman pushing a two-year-old boy in a stroller.
The accused, Goh Yong Siang, a Singaporean, faced two charges for driving without reasonable consideration for other road users.
Incident
The incident allegedly occurred at a pedestrian crossing along Pasir Panjang Road towards Telok Blangah Road, at the junction with Harbour Drive on May 17, 2024, at about 8:47am.
Goh allegedly failed to keep a proper lookout when he made a right turn from Harbour Drive towards Pasir Panjang Road.
As a result, he collided with the woman identified as Samsiah, who was pushing the two-year-old seated in a stroller.
Both of them were apparently crossing the road when the green man signal was on.
Samsiah suffered grievous hurt, and the boy was hurt as a result of the collision.
Lawyers from Allen & Gledhill represented Goh, CNA reported.
He did not indicate how he would plead.
The case was adjourned to May 14.
Background of accused
According to Temasek Management Services website, Goh sits on its board of directors.
Goh was a fighter pilot in the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and retired as its chief in 1998.
He then joined private equity firm Beta Capital Group in Dallas, Texas, U.S., until 2005.
In 2006, he joined Temasek International as its senior managing director until 2013.
He is also the chairman of Stratagem Group, a strategic business advisory firm based in Singapore, and Gas Supply, a subsidiary of Temasek Holdings that imports gas into Singapore.
