3 people trapped, 17 taken to hospital: AYE accident involving trailer & 3 lorries

A total of 17 people were taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle accident involving a trailer and three lorries along the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) on May 11 night.
The police were alerted to the accident along the AYE towards Tuas at about 9:20pm.
Those conveyed to hospital were conscious and aged between 31 and 50.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident before the Corporation Road exit at about 9:25pm.
Three people trapped in vehicles
In a statement, SCDF said three people were found trapped inside the vehicles upon officers’ arrival.
SCDF freed the persons using hydraulic rescue equipment.
A video circulating online showed multiple emergency vehicles parked along the expressway, including ambulances and firetrucks, while the two left-most lanes were cordoned off.
According to SCDF, six injured persons were taken to the National University Hospital, while another 11 were conveyed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
Police investigations are ongoing.
