A TikTok video posted by user @gordonramli on May 11 showed a man in a blue shirt standing near a red Trans-Cab taxi in Chinatown.

In the video, the man can be seen near the taxi, with the text overlay reading: “unc whack taxi in Chinatown”.

The TikTok user who uploaded the video wrote in the caption: “No idea what happened before unc started whacking the taxi.”

The man appeared to hit the inside of the taxi and later chased another man in an orange shirt, believed to be the taxi driver, around the vehicle.

Both men were also seen holding their phones up, with the taxi driver appearing to film the man in blue during the confrontation.

At one point, the man in blue appeared to kick the taxi’s side-view mirror, causing it to break and dangle from the side of the vehicle.

Taxi company providing support to driver

Trans-Cab said the driver had lodged a report with the company, which was providing him with support, according to The Straits Times (ST).

The company also told ST that apart from the left side-view mirror, the taxi’s mobile data terminal and gear stick were damaged, and that there were scratches and dents on its bonnet.

Trans-Cab said:

“The driver is currently doing fine. We are assisting him with the necessary follow-up procedures.”

It added: “The safety and well-being of our drivers and passengers remain our priority, and we will continue to cooperate fully with the authorities on the matter.”
