A diner in Malaysia ordered a steak, only to receive two thin slices of beef that looked nothing like the one ordered from the menu.
A Threads user, @cuaaaaaoraite._ posted the complaint on May 11, which went viral.
The post, which at the time of writing had 510,000 views, 11,400 likes and 1,500 comments, showed two photos side by side.
One was of the restaurant's menu, which featured a thick cut of steak for RM23 (S$7.50).
The other photo showed the reality; two thin slices of beef that resembled beef bacon strips.
Crinkle-cut fries, a piece of broccoli, a small salad, and a saucer accompanied the slices.

"Tough, chewy, not even warm"
The post's caption said: "Please don't use AI-generated images if you're going to run a business. Imagine someone who's hungry and stressed out ends up with food like this. So disappointing that it's tough, chewy and not even warm.”
In the comments, the diner shared that the dish was ordered at 1:30am after recovering from a fever.
The diner also clarified that while they did not expect the dish to look exactly like the photo, the slices were simply too thin.
In the photo of the menu, a disclaimer could be seen in the bottom right-hand corner, "Pictures are for illustration".
It was not confirmed if the pictures were AI-generated.
However, netizens noted that even with the disclaimer, the steaks looked different.
Some netizens commented saying that what was served was not steak but rather beef bacon.

Others said that perhaps instead of AI, the restaurant was using false advertising and taking images from Google when, in reality, they could not serve the same food.
