Former actor Huang Yiliang, 64, said he is feeling fine and back at the Circuit Road Hawker Centre to run his seafood stall on May 12, two days after he was allegedly struck on the back of his head behind his right ear during a confrontation with his next-door hawker and her husband.

He also explained that he was not smiling or acting when he was brought into the ambulance.

Tensions between Huang and his neighbouring chicken rice hawker boiled over on the evening of May 10 over rumours that Huang was "sleeping" with his stall assistant.

The rumours reportedly stemmed from the chicken rice hawker.

Just wanted to show I was fine: Huang

Speaking to Shin Min Daily News on May 12, the former actor said he was now fine.

However, he was concerned about online comments that suggested he was acting during Sunday's confrontation as he was perceived to have been smiling while being brought into the ambulance.

"I wasn't smiling. I was just showing that I was alright. At the start I didn't want to be taken to the hospital. However, someone had called for the ambulance and police. In the end, I thought it would be better to go to the hospital to see if there was any haemorrhage," Huang said.

He said that it was painful after he was struck, but added, "Do I have to cry just because I was in the ambulance?"

"When I'm acting, I might act out the pain, but in real life, I won't do that. I feel that people don't have to comment based on the fact that I was an actor," Huang said.

No more relationship with chicken rice hawker

Huang also shared that it was rare that there were people present that day who felt indignation on his behalf.

After the spate of confrontations, he said he has severed ties with the chicken rice hawker.

"There is no way for us to sit down and talk things out amicably. Now, you are you, and I am me," Huang said.

Huang had also shared in a separate interview that he has no plans to relocate his stall.

"I don't find that what has happened was because I was unlucky. It's all fate. Now I'll just focus on avoiding confrontation, which will lead to a loss for everyone," the former actor told Shin Min.

He also said that while his assistant was supposed to help out at his stall today, she will instead join him tomorrow as the chicken rice hawker was being fearful and paranoid.

Huang was spotted back at Circuit Road Hawker Centre on Tuesday preparing to open for business.

The stall was closed on Monday.
