A woman has appealed to the public for help after her ginger cat went missing at Gardens by the Bay on May 10.

In an Instagram video on May 11, the woman, named Shermaine, appeared distraught as she recounted how her cat Bravo escaped.

She and another person had brought Bravo for an outing at Gardens by the Bay, when he suddenly ran away into the bushes between Bayfront Plaza and the Bayfront Plaza car park.

Bravo was surprised and jumped at something after coming out of his bag on a park bench, she said.

His collar with an AirTag tracking device fell off, so she could not use it to locate him.

Park rangers arrived to help search for Bravo, she added, but as of around 8am on May 12, the three-year-old cat has yet to be found.

Public search

The first post about Bravo going missing has attracted close to 700,000 views in just about a day, sparking concern among the public.

Many commented with suggestions on how to find Bravo, while some went out to join the search in person, as seen in the Instagram stories posted on Bravo's page.

In these stories, Bravo's owners thanked members of the public for helping to look for Bravo at early hours of the morning.

Bravo's owners also created a Telegram channel on May 11 to coordinate the search and provide updates. It has 345 subscribers as at the time of writing.

That night, the owners said they have set up traps in the area where Bravo was last seen, hoping to lure him out with food.

Was a stray community cat

According to a post from Mar. 13, Bravo used to be a stray cat that would hang around the block where his current owners lived.

"He quickly become our community cat and won everyone’s heart," the caption read. "One day he went missing, but in the end, we found him and decided to [adopt] him."

In the missing poster for Bravo, the owners said that the cat needs medical attention for asthma.

Believing Bravo might be scared and hiding somewhere, they have been "extremely worried".
