Three men beat up one man for allegedly staring at one of them, who was believed to have been drunk, while eating at a bak kut teh (pork rib soup) eatery in Jalan Besar Kepong, Malaysia.

The incident in Kuala Lumpur occurred on May 7 at about 2am, China Press reported.

Incident

Based on surveillance footage shared online, the assault apparently lasted about three minutes.

The victim, who had a ponytail, was beaten up till his face was bloodied.

What video showed

He was seen seated at a table in the eatery when a blue bucket was hurled towards him.

A man dressed in blue, who appeared to be drunk, walked up to him and proceeded to throw punches at him.

Two other men, one dressed in red and the other dressed in white, could be seen initially trying to stop the man in blue.

However, they eventually joined in the assault.

Overwhelmed

The victim tried to defend himself but was overwhelmed.

The three men rained punches and kicks on the victim.

Objects such as buckets, chairs, ceramic bowls and a kettle were hurled at the victim, who kept getting his ponytail pulled.

The victim was also grabbed by his ponytail and dragged around the eatery.

His face was bloodied from the attack.

While the drunk man continued to assault the victim, the other two men later tried to calm him down, allowing the victim to flee.

At one point, the man in red could be seen pulling the man in blue by his shirt to stop him as the victim fled.

Aftermath

The three men were eventually arrested and have been ordered to be detained until May 14, New Straits Times and Free Malaysia Today reported.

According to local police, the victim was attacked as the drunk man believed the victim was staring at him.

The drunk man was apparently “annoyed” with the victim and proceeded to attack him.

The victim, who was believed to be an engineer, required four stitches.

He suffered serious head injuries and was hospitalised.
