A Singaporean teacher, 40, allegedly groomed and had sex with an underage boy on multiple occasions in 2023.

She was charged with 26 offences, including procuring obscene acts from a young person, sexual penetration of a minor, sexual grooming, and obstruction of justice.

The woman pleaded not guilty at her hearing on Mar. 2.

Charge sheets seen by Mothership did not reveal whether there was more than one victim involved, nor how the woman came to know the victim(s).

She cannot be named due to a gag order protecting the identities of the victims.

In response to Mothership's queries, the Ministry of Education (MOE) confirmed that she has been dismissed from service.

Asked minor to send nude photographs

According to the charge sheets, the woman allegedly asked a boy, aged below 16, for naked pictures of his body sometime between March and September 2023.

The boy acquiesced.

In the same period, the woman was accused of engaging with the victim via video-call while they were both bathing, so that she could see him naked.

She also purportedly engaged in oral and penetrative vaginal sex with the minor in a parked car, on multiple occasions.

One of those occasions was also mentioned in her sexual grooming charge, in which she was accused of meeting the minor with the intention of committing said offence.

Met victim in person at least 13 times

In total, she allegedly met the victim at least 13 times to commit at least 22 acts.

Most of those occasions involved oral and penetrative sex in a parked car.

The woman was also charged with multiple alleged undated sexual encounters, at unknown locations which were redacted in charge sheets.

The final incident in the charge regarding penetrative sex was dated Sep. 15, 2023, during which the woman allegedly sexually assaulted the victim in a parked car.

The 26th charge accused the woman of obstructing justice by deleting text messages between her and the victim between Oct. 25 and 26, 2024.

Possible penalties

In response to Mothership's queries, MOE said that the woman was suspended from duty in November 2023.

She has since been dismissed from service.

"MOE takes a serious view of staff misconduct and will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against those who fail to adhere to our standards of conduct and discipline, including dismissal of service," the spokesperson said.

The woman is currently out on bail of S$80,000. Her case will be mentioned again on Apr. 6, 2026.

If found guilty, the woman faces up to 20 years in jail and a fine for each charge of causing a minor to commit sexual penetration.

She cannot be caned as she is a woman.

For a sexual grooming conviction, she could be jailed for up to three years, fined or both.

The offence of obstructing justice carries a jail term of seven years, a fine, or both.
