S'pore man, 28, allegedly made repeated prank calls to police & threw eggs at their vehicles while they attended to fake incidents

He will be charged in court on Mar. 25.

A 28-year-old man in Singapore will be charged in court on Mar. 25 for allegedly throwing eggs at police vehicles after making prank calls to the police hotline.

In a press release on Mar. 24, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it had received at least 18 false reports of criminal activities between Feb. 3 and Mar. 22, which then led to the repeated vandalism.

Man allegedly used mobile line fraudulently obtained

According to SPF, the man allegedly threw eggs at police cars after officers exited the vehicles to attend to the false incidents on Mar. 15, 21 and 22.

Following investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division identified the man and arrested him on Mar. 23.

Preliminary investigations revealed that he had allegedly obtained a mobile phone line by fraudulently using an identity card that had been reported lost.

He is also believed to have used the line to make the false reports.

To be charged

The man will be charged in court on Mar. 25.

If found guilty, he may be fined up to S$2,000, or jailed for up to three years, and may also be caned between three and eight strokes.
