The Business Times, citing sources familiar with the matter, reported that Tiger Beer brewer Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore (APBS) is retrenching workers in Singapore.

It is unclear how many workers, and from which sectors, will be affected.

Mothership has reached out to APBS for comment.

The brewer last underwent a restructuring in 2023, leading to 33 staff being fired.

Their parent company, Heineken, said in February that it would cut 5,000 to 6,000 jobs over the next two years.

Reuters attributed these cuts to weaker demand for beer.

In addition to this, they noted that alcohol makers face "rising health warnings, competition from alternatives, and disruptions like weight-loss drugs".
