Iranian man, 45, gets jail & 3 strokes of cane for sexually assaulting boy, 15, in S'pore condo toilet

An Iranian man, 45, living in Singapore on a Dependant's Pass, was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment and three strokes of the cane on Mar. 11 for molesting and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old male student in the toilet of a condominium.

The man faced two charges for outrage of modesty and had pleaded guilty.

Accused and victim did not know each other

According to court documents, the incident took place on Feb. 3, 2025, when the victim was 14.

At about 5pm that day, after completing his tuition class, the victim headed home.

At 5:15pm, he arrived at the condominium complex he resided in and decided to head to the sauna in the condo's toilet to rest.

Upon arriving, he noticed a man, who turned out to be the accused, in swimming trunks, standing outside the sauna and who appeared to intend to use the sauna.

Out of courtesy, the victim asked the accused if they could utilise the sauna at the same time, and the accused responded in the affirmative.

The victim then proceeded to the changing room and changed into a pair of shorts before proceeding into the sauna.

Inside, he noticed the accused sitting in one corner and proceeded to sit at a different corner.

Soon after, the accused initiated a conversation with the victim, asking about his name, age and whether he lived in the condo, among other things.

Two other male residents then entered the sauna.

Followed victim to the urinal

The victim later left the sauna to use the washroom.

15 seconds later, the accused followed suit.

As the victim was pulling his shorts back up at the urinal, the accused approached him from the back and asked if he could "touch".

The victim shook his head, indicating that he did not consent.

Despite this, the accused proceeded to touch the victim's private part.

The victim quickly moved away and decided to return to the sauna, as he remembered there were two other people there.

He sat down in the same spot as he had before, and the accused did the same.

Followed victim to handicap toilet cubicle

About five to 10 minutes later, the victim retrieved his belongings and left for a handicap toilet cubicle to change back into his clothes.

However, before the victim could close the door behind him, the accused entered the cubicle and closed the door.

The accused then asked the victim multiple times, "Can I?"

The victim was too shocked to react and only asked the accused what he was doing.

The accused then crouched in front of the victim and pulled down the victim's shorts, exposing the victim.

He then used his tongue to lick the victim's private part for a few seconds.

The victim moved back and decided to return to the sauna area, where he knew there were others present.

He changed and was about to leave the area, but the accused approached him again and asked if he would be coming back to the sauna the next day.

The victim said he did not know and left.

Victim would break down before sleeping

The victim later threw away the clothing he had been wearing that day and had difficulties sleeping the night of the incident.

The next morning, on Feb. 4, 2025, the victim told his father what happened, and they lodged a police report.

The accused was arrested the same day.

For months after the incident, the victim regularly broke down before sleeping whenever he remembered what happened.

Children must be able to live in homes without fear: DPP

In his court submission, Deputy Public Prosecutor Dhiraj G Chainani wrote, "This is not a case of impulse or fleeting misconduct in a moment of confusion. This is a case of calculated exploitation committed against a child in a place that ought to have been his refuge."

The DPP also noted that the accused had learned of the child's age through the questions he asked, but proceeded to molest him and persisted despite the child's refusals.

"Children must be able to live, play and grow in their homes without fear of predation," the DPP wrote.

The prosecution sought 16 to 18 months' imprisonment along with three to six strokes of the cane.

The 45-year-old has been held in remand since Sep. 11, 2025, after his bail was revoked.

According to 8world, he is a married man who is residing in Singapore on a Dependant's Pass.

He pleaded guilty to his charges and was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment and three strokes of the cane.
