‘I love Bella not in spite of, but because of her 2 children as well’: Syed Saddiq's engagement to Bella Astillah

Malaysian politician Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman and singer Bella Astillah got engaged today (Mar. 28).

The engagement ceremony, attended by family and close industry friends, took place at 3:30pm and was livestreamed on Astro's social media platforms.

In his speech, Syed Saddiq said he was speaking not as a member of parliament or debater, but as the "luckiest man on this earth".

He shared that he is privileged to see a different side of Bella:

"Even in her exhaustion, she finds her strength. In falling, she finds her own way to rise again."

He also addressed the chatter online, questioning whether Bella is well-suited for him, given that she was formerly married.

"I want to make it very clear. I love Bella, not in spite of, but because of her two children as well," he said.

He ended his speech saying that he looks forward to being part of her family and hopes to be able to plan everything by this year.

No wedding date has been announced at this juncture.

Past marriage

In 2016, Bella married Singaporean singer Aliff Aziz.

They divorced in 2019, then reconciled that same year.

The couple divorced for good in 2024 after he was arrested in Malaysia for close proximity with another Malaysian actress, Ruhainies.

They have two kids together, aged nine and six.
