The owner of Cheng Ji Seafood Restaurant accidentally undercharged a group of diners for a lobster dish on the second day of Chinese New Year (Feb. 18).

Customers came back to return S$198 balance

The diners, a family of four, paid only S$2 for a S$200 lobster dish after she keyed in the wrong price, according to Shin Min Daily News.

After discovering the error, the customers returned to the store the next day to pay the balance of S$198, recounted restaurant owner Dai Xiangying (direct translation).

"It's really rare and also very lucky. Not every customer claims the receipt, and even fewer diners would check the receipt and return to the store to pay the balance after finding out that the restaurant undercharged them," Dai toldĀ Shin Min.

She added that the diners initially wanted to order a single Australian lobster priced at S$168, but the restaurant was out of stock for that particular size. They later changed their order to two smaller Australian lobsters, which added up to S$200.

Australian lobsters are some of the most expensive items available in the restaurant's menu.

Owner thanked honest customers, gave their daughters red packets

According to Dai, they had not discovered the error until the customers returned to the restaurant to foot the remaining S$198, as business had been busy during the CNY period.

Dai later posted on Facebook thanking the honest customers, and also presented red packets to their two daughters.

Several commenters on Dai's post also praised the parents for setting a good example for their children.
