Video showing people transported in cage in Cambodia, owner says trailer didn't have space for workers

A video showing people being transported in cages in a town in Cambodia sparked heated online discussion.

Local police later released a statement saying they had conducted investigations and spoken to the owner of the cages, reported Khmer Times.

The man explained that the cage was made to house animals.

However, while transporting it back to his home, some workers sat inside because the trailer was too small to accommodate everyone.

Passers-by took photos and shared them online, leading to confusion.

Videos circulating online showed several people inside a cage mounted on a trailer travelling along a busy street.

Police have since instructed the owner not to transport the cage with people inside.
