22 dead, 55 injured: Train crashes into fallen construction crane in Thailand
Investigations are ongoing.
At least 22 people are reportedly dead in Thailand after a large construction crane used for railway track installation collapsed onto the tracks and a moving train collided into it.
The accident happened on the morning of Jan. 14 in Sikhio, Nakhon Ratchasima.
The incident also left 55 people injured, with about 190 people reportedly trapped inside the carriages, according to The Nation Thailand.

Crane fall onto train
The incident occurred around 9:45am when the high-speed train struck the construction crane blocking its path.
Emergency medical teams and rescue workers have been working to free trapped passengers using iron cutters.
Photos uploaded on Thailand's Fire & Rescue Facebook page showed the extent of the train wreckage due to the impact.

The rescue operation is said to be difficult due to the overlap of the crane and the train's structure.
