Man, 32, with 3 knives who attacked Boon Lay residents singing at void deck has been arrested
He will be charged in court on Dec. 13.
The 32-year-old man with three knives who allegedly attacked a group of Boon Lay residents has been found and will be charged in court for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons.
The man had fled the scene after he heard the residents had called the police, and the police were tracing his whereabouts.
On Dec. 12, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) told Mothership that the man had been arrested and would be charged in court on Dec. 13, 2025.
If found guilty, the man could face an imprisonment term of up to seven years, a fine, caning, or any combination of such punishments.
"The police have zero tolerance towards such acts of violence in the community and will not hesitate to take firm action against those who blatantly disregard the law," said SPF.
Attacked residents
The incident occurred on Dec. 6 at around 6:55 pm and reportedly resulted from a staring incident.
A resident told Shin Min Daily News that a group of neighbours were drinking and singing karaoke at the foot of Block 188 Boon Lay Drive.
Sitting along the corridor of her first-floor apartment, she noticed a tall man waiting for a car nearby, accompanied by a woman.
She added that some people noticed the man staring at the group but did not think much of it, as they did not know him.
The man then returned 10 minutes later, allegedly holding knives in both his hands and began cursing at the group.
He was holding two knives in his left hand and a chopper in his right, the resident told Shin Min.
The man then questioned her four male friends and appeared to grow more agitated.
The resident tried to get him to calm down, but he suddenly swung the knife at her friend, stabbing him in the back.
The friend tried to defend himself using a plastic chair, but suffered wounds to his arm and back.
The resident then called the police.
Another resident present said he grabbed a bamboo pole to fight the man.
When the man heard they called the police, he dropped the knives and ran away.
