Ex-Miss Hong Kong & new mum Louisa Mak, 33, offers to house babies who need help after Wang Fuk Court fire
Heartening.
Louisa Mak is the 2015 winner of Miss Hong Kong.
She is also a mother to a seven-month-old.
Like many in Hong Kong, she has stepped up to help victims of the horrific Wang Fuk Court fire.
Many in the complex have been displaced after the fires.
Mak, who lives in Kowloon, said she would be happy to take in one or two infants who need help.
Her gesture has received much praise online.
The tragedy has led to an overwhelming outpouring of support, and a national period of mourning.
A total of 11 people have been arrested in relation to the fire as of Nov. 29, according to South China Morning Post.
Those arrested included consultants, scaffolding subcontractors and middlemen of the project.
Preliminary investigations suggested that polystyrene, which is highly flammable, had been used around the buildings’ windows, leading to the fire’s unusually quick spread.
In addition, Hong Kong authorities have discovered that the protective material and mesh covering the exterior of the buildings, installed since renovations started in mid-July 2024, did not appear to be fireproof.
The fire has claimed over 145 lives.
