Orange and Teal cafe, started by Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) leader Chee Soon Juan, has shut its last outlet at Rochester.
The cafe announced the closure on Instagram on Nov. 11, more than four years after it opened at Rochester Mall.
"While this chapter comes to a close, we do so with gratitude and optimism. We are happy we started Orange and Teal, and just as happy to leave it on our own terms," said the cafe.
It added that it looks forward to "picking up where we left off on another day."
The cafe will hold a cash and carry sale from Nov. 11-13, from 11am to 7pm, for anyone who would like to purchase items from Orange and Teal.
When it first opened, Chee shared his vision for Orange and Teal to be a place where Singaporeans can come together not just for a "great meal", but also for intelligent discussion and impassioned debate.
As a way of giving back, he also invited cleaners, cardboard collectors and migrant workers to dine for free.
The end
Chee first opened Orange and Teal on Jun. 25, 2021, to a steady stream of diners.
The cafe then opened a second outlet in Marina Square in 2022, but it closed down on Oct. 11, 2024.
The cafe cited "rising costs" as the reason for its closure.
