Prosecutor, teacher & surgeon among 201 men caught in M'sia men-only 'health centre'
After a two-week surveillance.
201 men were caught at a "wellness centre" in Chow Kit in Kuala Lumpur on the night of Nov. 28, according to The Star.
The wellness centre was suspected to have been operating as a men-only "sex den".
According to Bernama, the raid was done by the KL Strike Force after two weeks of intelligence-gathering and surveillance, with the cooperation of the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department and Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
Police deputy chief Datuk Mohd Azani Omar said that they have confiscated condoms, lubricants, and other items used for "immoral" activities, in a report by Harian Metro.
He added that the place has been used for men to meet and exchange partners to take part in "unnatural" sexual activities.
Membership fee
The health centre is located in a shophouse and equipped with facilities such as saunas, jacuzzis, and a gym, spa, and swimming pool catering to men.
Each patron is charged a RM35 (S$10.99) per visit, with an additional RM10 (S$3.14) registration fee for first-timers.
Harian Metro understands that the centre also has a special room dubbed the "dark room".
Patrons allegedly had take off their clothes and were only allowed to put on a white towel provided by the centre.
According to Azani, the wellness centre was promoted on social media platforms and through word-of-mouth.
17 civil servants arrested
In total, 201 male patrons and seven employees aged between 19 and 60 years old were arrested. This included 24 foreigners.
Patrons come from various backgrounds, including professionals, tourists, and students.
Of the 208 arrested, 17 were civil servants.
The Star reported that a deputy public prosecutor, a surgeon, and a teacher were among the men detained.
New Straits Times also reported that a 59-year-old specialist doctor was caught, who claimed to go there to "heal and avoid the after-work traffic jam".
