Trailer hits tree branches, which land on cars along ECP: 2 men, aged 70 & 71, & woman, 32, sent to hospital

Three people were conveyed to the hospital on Nov. 29 after a trailer supposedly broke the branches of a tree along the East Coast Parkway (ECP), causing them to land on cars.

Tree branch shatters windshield and crushes roof

In photos shared on Xiaohongshu, several cars were seen along the expressway.

Tree branches and leaves littered the road.

A large tree branch appeared to have pierced through and crushed the roof and windshield of a red car.

Behind the red car, a larger tree branch could be seen on the ground.

A green car and a grey car also appeared to have been affected by the fallen tree branches.

Workers in high-visibility vests and hard hats were seen clearing the fallen foliage, while a traffic marshal and a traffic enforcement officer were at the scene.

In a video posted to Facebook page SGRV, an ambulance was seen at the scene, while a person appeared to be seated on a stretcher.

Tree branches broke off

Responding to queries from Mothership, a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesperson said they received a call for assistance along ECP towards the city, before Fort Road exit, at about 1:35pm on Nov. 29.

A Singapore Police Force (SPF) spokesperson said the police was similarly alerted to the accident at 1:35pm.

The accident involved a trailer and five cars.

One 71-year-old male car driver and his 32-year-old female passenger, and another 70-year-old male car driver were conveyed conscious to the hospital, the SPF spokesperson said.

SCDF said the three persons were conveyed to Raffles Hospital, while two others were assessed for minor injuries and declined to be sent to the hospital.

Mothership understands that a trailer apparently struck the tree branches and they fell onto the vehicles and road.

Police investigations are ongoing.
