S'pore actress Zoe Tay's mother dies at 88

Singapore actress Zoe Tay's mother has died aged 88.

Tay, 57, paid tribute to her mother in a Dec. 1, 2025 Instagram post.

She wrote in Chinese that her mother never talked about her love, but instead poured love into every little moment of her daily life.

"With her lifelong kindness, she taught me to treat the world gently," the actress wrote.

"May you rest in peace, mum. I am missing you silently every day."

Tay, who is also known as the "Ah Jie" (Big Sister) of local television, included hashtags such as #MissingYou in her post.

In a 2021 post, Tay talked about how she looked up to her mom as she had to raise her and her siblings all on her own.

"A woman figure whom I look up to is definitely my mom. Apart from her work, she didn’t have anyone to help her with house chores, and had to raise my siblings and I all on her own. Yet, she never once complained about it."

Turned 88

Tay's mother turned 88 in 2025.

On Jun. 30, 2025, Tay commemorated her mother's birthday via an Instagram post.

"Happy Birthday to my dearest mummy," the actress wrote. "Love you so so much."
