"She was a beautiful child, but yet met with something so cruel."
The mother of the 16-year-old teenage girl who was stabbed to death at a Malaysia school wrote a tribute to her deceased daughter on social media on Oct. 15.
She described her daughter, Yap Shing Xuen, as very sweet, kind and disciplined: "She was a beautiful child, but yet met with something so cruel... I am speechless and heartbroken.”
She continued: “I hope she rests well in the other world, and her soul finds peace and happiness. Mum will always love and miss you.”
The mother also provided an update about her daughter's wake on her account.
The deceased's elder sister also posted a tribute on Wednesday.
Updates on case
Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said the 14-year-old suspect who fatally stabbed the girl had harboured strong feelings for the victim.
However, the two students were in different classes and the boy had never expressed his feelings and kept them to himself, the police added.
The boy was in Form One and the girl was in Form Three.
He did not have disciplinary issues in school previously and did not have mental health issues, the police revealed.
The boy also tested negative for drugs.
The victim was unaware of the suspect’s feelings and they did not interact with each other before, the media were told on Wednesday.
It was suspected that the boy could have been driven by his emotional impulses and social media to commit the crime, police added.
It was previously reported that the suspect had expressed his feelings for the girl but was turned down.
The boy apparently purchased online three sharp weapons, a “kerambit” and two knives.
The boy's family were not aware he had done so.
Only one knife was used in the murder, the police confirmed.
The post-mortem revealed that the wounds were inflicted using a knife.
