Ride-hailing passenger at Marina Bay Financial Centre alights without closing door, driver has to close it himself
The driver had to get out to close it for him.
A passenger of a ride-hailing car stirred up debate online after he alighted at Marina Bay Financial Centre and walked off without closing the door.
The driver ended up having to alight from the car himself and walk one big round around the vehicle to close the door.
The incident sparked comments from online users about passenger etiquette when using ride-hailing services.
The clip
Dashcam footage of the incident, taken from another vehicle, was shared to TikTok on Oct. 15.
After a red car stopped at the drop-off point for Marina Bay Financial Centre Tower 1, a man in office attire got out.
He then walked towards the lobby without turning back or closing the door.

After a few seconds elapsed and the passenger did not return, the driver got out from the vehicle himself to close it.

In response to a comment that the passenger could have been in a rush, the user said the man walked into the lobby but looked unsure of where to go.

Users criticise passenger's behaviour
Most users were critical of the passenger's behaviour.
"Bruh think[s] he got a private chauffeur," one user wrote.

Others speculated that he could have got into a fight with the driver prior to alighting.

Or perhaps the passenger was too used to Japan taxis, where the door is automatically opened and closed by the driver, some users said.

One driver suggested a simple way to remind passengers who walk off without closing the door.
