HK woman shocked to find her Indonesian helper actually extremely rich, worked just to 'experience life'
Twist.
An Indonesian woman in her 20s is returning home to get married after working as a maid in Hong Kong to "experience life".
According to a Threads post, her employer said the woman worked in Hong Kong for several years.
However, she suddenly informed her employer that she wanted to end her contract early and return home to get married.
Sin Chew Daily reported that the announcement made her employer's family worried that she had fallen for an online dating scam.
Rich family background
The woman reassured her employer that her relationship was real and showed her a picture of her fiance, a pilot.
According to the woman, her fiance sent her a monthly allowance of RM1,630 (S$500) when she was a student.
That amount is expected to double once the couple gets married and starts a family.
Sin Chew Daily reported that her employer also discovered the woman owns a farm, coffee bean plantation and cocoa bean plantation in her hometown.
Experience life
Despite her wealth and stable financial situation, the woman chose to work as a maid in Hong Kong.
This is because she wanted to "experience life".
The Standard reported that the woman worked with a carefree and "leisurely" attitude.
