New case.
Four teenagers in Kedah, Malaysia were arrested for allegedly gang raping a girl and sharing nude recordings of the victim online.
The new case has rocked the country, already hit by a series of violent crimes involving youths currently under investigation in the past few weeks, New Straits Times reported on Oct. 16.
Group sex in classrooms in school
Preliminary investigations found that the four suspects were involved in sexual acts, including group sex, from May to August in several classrooms at the school.
A report was lodged on Oct. 12 morning by the father of the girl who allegedly appeared nude in a video that was being circulated.
The father was informed by a disciplinary teacher about the circulation of the video.
Those arrested were three students and a former student from the same school.
They were arrested at 9:30pm on Sunday night, on the day the report was lodged.
Malaysia police said all suspects were remanded for five days starting from the date of their arrest.
Six mobile phones were seized for further investigation, it was added.
The case is being investigated for group rape and for sending child pornography.
Series of violent crimes involving youths
The latest case comes less than a week after it was reported that four 17-year-old students in Form Five were arrested over the alleged gang rape of a 15-year-old Form Three student in a classroom.
The suspects have since been expelled.
The case has sparked calls for caning to be brought back as a punishment for unruly students.
