WhatsappChina's Premier Li Qiang is on an official visit to Singapore from Oct. 25 to 26 at the invitation of Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

While this marks the first official visit by Li to Singapore, it is the fourth time both leaders have met in their current roles.

PM Wong last met Li, alongside Chinese President Xi Jinping, in June in Beijing, China, where they witnessed the signing a letter of intent to develop a third country training programme for government officials from Asean member states and Timor-Leste.

As Premier, Li is also the most senior Chinese official to visit Singapore since 2018, when his predecessor Li Keqiang last visited.

Li's visit coincides with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Singapore and China this year.

The itinerary

Li is being received by PM Wong on Oct. 25 in a ceremonial welcome.

They will then witness the exchange of bilateral Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) and agreements in areas such as green development, digital economy, and training and development.

An official dinner will also be hosted by PM Wong in Li's honour.

Li will next meet Acting President Eddie Teo on Oct. 26, in the stead of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

He will then engage in a roundtable discussion with Singapore and Chinese business leaders at the Singapore-China Business Roundtable hosted by Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong.

Li will then travel to Kuala Lumpur to attend the 47th Asean Summit, chaired by Malaysia, where he is expected to oversee signing of the upgrade protocol to the Asean-China Free Trade Agreement.
