Indonesian woman killed in Chinatown hotel worked as pharmacist in Batam

The Indonesian woman who was murdered by her husband in their hotel room at Capri by Fraser, China Square on Oct. 24 was 38-year-old Nurdia Rahmah Rery.

According Nurdia's brother, their family is based in Indonesia, Shin Min Daily News reported.

The embassy is helping with relevant administrative processes.

The brother shared that Nurdia was a pharmacist and had worked in Batam for Indonesia's National Agency of Drug and Food Control.

On the morning of Oct. 24, Nurdia's husband, 41-year-old Salehuddin, turned himself in at Bukit Merah East Neighbourhood Police Centre.

He informed officers that he had killed his wife.

Police later found Nurdia motionless inside their hotel room at Capri by Fraser.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Citing charge sheets, Shin Min wrote that the murder took place between 3am and 5am in the hotel's room 703.

That same day on Oct. 24, police were seen leaving the scene with four large brown bags, believed to contain evidence from the crime scene, according to Shin Min.

Salehuddin was charged in court on Oct. 25 for murder.
