Bollywood singer Zubeen Garg died in Singapore after swimming at St John's Island on Sep. 19, 2025.

The Indian singer was supposed to perform at the North East India Festival, which was eventually cancelled in light of the tragedy.

Since then, "speculation and false information" regarding the circumstances of Garg's death has been circulating online and the Singapore Police Force (SPF) is aware of these, an Oct. 17 statement by the police said.

The police added that findings of the investigations, which may take up to another three months or so, will be submitted to the state coroner in Singapore.

The state coroner will then determine whether to hold a coroner's inquiry.

A coroner's inquiry is a fact-finding process led by a coroner, who is a judicial officer of the courts, to establish the cause and circumstances of death, the statement added.

The findings will be made public once the coroner's inquiry is concluded.

The police have also given a copy of Garg's autopsy report and the police's preliminary findings to the High Commission of India upon its request.

The police added:

"The SPF is committed to conducting a thorough and professional investigation into the case, and this takes time. We seek the patience and understanding of the parties involved. Meanwhile, we urge the public not to speculate and spread unverified information."
