Melbourne woman, 36, stabbed in the street in broad daylight, suffered a lung puncture
The alleged stabber was reportedly out on bail.
A 32-year-old woman in Melbourne, Australia has been arrested for allegedly stabbing another woman, 36, in the streets on Oct. 2.
According to Australian media outlet 7NEWS, Wan Lai was stabbed along Little Bourke Street in the city Central Business District (CBD) at around 7:40am (Melbourne time).
The alleged attacker, who was reportedly out on bail, was later handed three charges in court, reported 9News.
Woman was walking to work when stabbed
CCTV footage of the incident obtained by 7NEWS showed Lai walking along the street with her hands in her jacket pocket.
She was reportedly heading to work at a sushi restaurant.
A woman clad in dark-coloured attire, carrying a ball in her left arm and a knife in her right hand, approached Wan from behind and stabbed her in the right side of the chest.
She immediately fled the scene, leaving Lai crouching on the ground.

Passers-by and police officers later came to assist Lai when she collapsed.

Suffered lung puncture, alleged attacker reportedly out on bail
According to 9News, Lai was taken to the hospital, where she was found to have suffered a lung puncture.
She said that she had reportedly felt a tap from the back before she was stabbed.
Although she has physically recovered, the incident left Lai deeply shaken, prompting her to move to a new home.
The 32-year-old woman who had allegedly attacked her was arrested and has since been in remand.
She was charged with two counts of intentionally causing injury and one count of committing an indictable offence while on bail.
Police also seized a knife following her arrest.
The incident has also been condemned by Jacinta Allan, Premier of Victoria.
In a post on X on Oct. 16, she described the attack as "absolutely sickening", adding that she has extended her support to Lai and her family.
Allan said: "No one who commits brazen, violent acts like this should be on the streets. I thank the men and women of Victoria Police for their swift response."
